EDP Distribuição - the company that brings electricity to consumers' homes - will invest 799 million euros in the electricity grid by 2021, when nine more substations and 1500 kilometers of high and medium voltage network should be in operation.

The Electricity Distribution Network Development and Investment Plan (PDIRD) was approved in July 2018 by the Government.
It is recalled that in order to comply with the new rules that came into force at the beginning of 2017, the document had to be discussed in the Assembly of the Republic before the Executive's approval.
In the future, and continuing the strong bet that the company has made in recent years of constant modernization and automation of the power grid, these investments will allow to maintain the trajectory of reducing the asymmetries of quality of service.

In the last 12 years, EDP Distribuição has invested 3.8 billion euros in the electricity grid.
Security of electricity supply, network quality of service, network efficiency, operational efficiency and access to new services are the "five strategic and fundamental pillars" of the Company's investment plan.
EDP Distribuição is currently the concessionaire of the high and medium voltage distribution network in mainland Portugal and the low voltage networks of 278 Portuguese municipalities, distributing electricity to 99.5% of national delivery points, totaling 6 , 1 million customers.
